Field Sketches

Most sketches are quickly drawn followed with a watercolour wash and finished with an ink pen. The sketches are completed mostly on site. The following field sketches are from The Explorers Club Flag Expeditions I led to the Muskwa-Kechika in northeast British Columbia to record birds for a bird atlas, and to the Salish Sea to document the region and its people for a film.

Sketches from Safety Sound near Nome, Alaska were made while researching sandpipers.

These ink, pencil and watercolour sketches were made during travels near and far.

Studio

Paintings of birds were made in the studio mostly using watercolour and drawings were made with ink
